Book Description: This is an era of challenges and opportunities. It is undeniable that there are many major social problems that human beings face together in today's world, many of which are waiting for architects to solve. Building material shortages caused by resource reduction. Disaster risk caused by climate change threatens people's living safety. The shortage of affordable housing caused by population explosion, etc. In the architectural industry, more and more attention has been paid to topics related to recycling of materials, resisting disaster and post-disaster reconstruction, quick construction of affordable housing and green buildings. It is hard for architects to solve all the problems with one trial, one project. But with every little effort, every little project should try to take a small step toward solving the problems. The thread for this thesis is to start with a realistic background. By studying the materials, forms, and methods of design, gradually exploring a different design and construction language from a new perspective, centring on the timber structures. While respecting the material properties of the timber itself, it is desirable to combine the unconventional hyperbolic paraboloid geometry in the simplest way and introduce the concept of prefabrication, to explore a complete system of repeatable units. Therefore, it is possible to provide a new idea for timber structure design and new technical options. Hence this also led to more relevant research and discussion. While this thesis is mainly in the form of inquiry, through the continuous accumulation of theoretical foundations, and progressively combined with practice. Through exploration, to gradually find a solution in this unknown field. The ultimate goal is to successfully design a system based on this theory. As a result, to completely display the design elements and technical features associated with it. Also, through constant improvement, try to make models, prototypes and even build samples. In this way, to turn the theory into a program with potential practices and promotional value. Critical Question: How to develop a system for the construction of timber structures in prefabricated assembly hyperbolic paraboloid units?
